Description
Opinion Ballot from a constituent in Rockdale, Texas on the subject of whether Congress should pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965; The constituent writes that he is not opposed to literacy tests if they are adminstered fairly and without discrimination of any kind. The constituent expresses his opposition to the Voting Rights Act due to its being "levied against the South." A reply letter from W. R. Poage expresses his wish to prohibit any discrimination, including discrimination against states. A trascription of the constituents note on the Opinion Ballot has been included.
