Description
Handwritten letter from a constituent in Dayton, Texas to Rep. John Dowdy requesting information about a raise Social Security allowance with replies from Dowdy and Robert M. Bell, Commissioner of Social Security; In her letter, the constituent refers to a Houston Post article on an increase in Social Security funds and asks Dowdy why she has not received the increased funds. By requesting aid from Commissioner Bell, Dowdy learns that the raise was “possibility rather than fact,” and assures the constituent that he is sympathetic to the need for an increase in Social Security allowances. A transcription of the constituent's letter has been included.
